Alternative fashion comes to Belfast

6 April 2009 -

Belfast will play host to its first alternative fashion show later this month.

On April 23rd visitors looking for events in Northern Ireland will find alternative clothing, jewellery, martial arts wear and even live snakes at Smithfield Market as part of the Urban Edge show.

Shops will remain open until 21:00 local time, allowing fashionistas and shoppers to experience the alternative side of Belfast's retail offering and models will take part in two free catwalk shows at 18:30 and 20:00 local time in the marketplace.

Clothes on display will be from Grotten Emporium and Army Navy Supplies, while sportswear will be provided by Boxing Supplies and Impact and make-up will be sponsored by Urban Decay from nearby CastleCourt.

Earlier this week, Belfast council announced that the appearance of the city is set to improve for those visiting Northern Ireland, as £7 million is to be put into the capital's shopping areas.
