Belfast-born actress Jenn Murray has won the lead role in a new primetime BBC drama series.
The 23-year-old is set to star alongside comedian Eddie Izzard and Vanessa Redgrave in an adaptation of the 1950s novel The Day of the Triffids.
Fans of films in Northern Ireland will be most familiar with Ms Murray for her role as a disturbed teenager in the movie Dorothy, which earned her a nomination at the Irish Film and Television Awards.
She said she is looking forward to featuring in the new production and working with such a stellar cast of actors.
"I'm really excited. I thought the script was really cool and then when I heard the cast, I was like 'Oh gosh', because everyone is so amazing," Ms Murray stated.
Meanwhile, Steve McQueen, who directed Hunger, a film set in Northern Ireland, won the Carl Foreman accolade at the British Academy of Film and Television Awards on Sunday (February 8th).
