Choir welcomes in advent season

8 December 2008 -

Travellers keen to sample choir music in Northern Ireland while in the country can look forward to two performances from the University of Ulster Choir this week.

Under the direction of music lecturer Shaun Ryan, the 70-strong collective will perform for locals and visitors at St Peter's Cathedral on Falls Road in Belfast tomorrow (Tuesday).

Two days later, the choir will move on to their home city of Londonderry, also known as Derry, with a show at St Patrick's Church on Buncrana Road at 20:00GMT.

Vivaldi's Gloria and Lauridsen's Lux Anterna will be the two expressive works which will form the focus of the performances, with the first piece featuring support from soloists including Aofie Miskelly and Mark Chambers.

The group is highly-respected, providing some of the best choir music in Northern Ireland for locals and travellers to enjoy.

People keen on sampling more traditional music in Northern Ireland can book holidays between February 7th and 10th, when the Feile an Earraigh Festival takes place in Belfast.
