People planning to travel in Northern Ireland can add Downpatrick to their list of places to visit as a new four-star, £25 million hotel has been earmarked for the town, the Down Recorder claims.
Planning officials are to recommend the green light for the scheme to politicians on Monday 27th October and hope construction work will begin in the near future.
The development will be a boost to the local tourism industry, with a 100-seat restaurant and 82 rooms which will provide some more top-quality accommodation in Northern Ireland.
Also those looking to travel in Northern Ireland can keep fit as there will also be a health club, a 15-metre swimming pool and spa, the news provider claims.
Downpatrick councillor Dermot Curran believes the hotel and surrounding developments will be beneficial to the area.
"At a time when there is a lot of doom and gloom about, exciting plans for a new leisure complex, a four-star hotel and £3 million investment in Downpatrick town centre to regenerate its economic core are all good news stories," he told the publication.
Tourists planning to travel in Northern Ireland could be interested in visiting Downpatrick, which is the burial place for St Patrick, St Columba and St Bridget.
