Londonderry, also known as Derry, will celebrate its prestigious maritime history next month.
The Foyle Days event will be held on June 13th and 14th and provide those looking for family events in Northern Ireland with the chance to take part in scuba diving, canoeing and river tours.
Mayor Gerard Diver commented: "It's an event that combines activity, history and a bit of fun for all ages and interests. It provides an opportunity to revisit the city's connections with the river and one that we hope to build upon for future years."
The event will coincide with the rededication of the Derry-Newfie Bell to commemorate the Royal Naval Association Annual Conference and the north Atlantic convoys during World War II.
Earlier this week, Derry City Council announced that Londonderry is on track to become the fastest emerging tourism city in Northern Ireland.
Studies carried out by the group indicate the walled city will be able to exceed the country's tourism growth targets by 2012.
