Rugby tournament to provide family fun

29 July 2009 -

An upcoming rugby tournament is set to combine one of the most hotly-contested sporting events in Northern Ireland with a wide range of family activities.

The annual Ophir Sevens will be held at Cottonmount in Newtownabbey on Saturday August 22nd, with a fun day taking place alongside the matches.

Teams from all over the country will converge to participate in the tournament, with the coveted Ken Bonar Memorial Trophy up for grabs to the victorious side.

Meanwhile, non-participants can take their time strolling around the many stalls, with face-painting, bouncy castles and a beer tent among the attractions in Northern Ireland on offer.

Deputy mayoress Alderman Paula Bradley commented: "Everyone is invited to come along and join in the fun! There will be lots going on to keep one and all entertained!"

Meanwhile football fans will be flocking to see one of the most eagerly anticipated sporting events in Northern Ireland on Sunday July 26th, when the Milk Cup kicks off in County Down.ADNFCR-1859-ID-19286506-ADNFCR
