Tickets now on sale for Belfast Tattoo 2014
4 October 2013
Plans are already well underway for the Belfast Tattoo 2014.
Tickets are currently on sale for two shows at the Odyssey Arena - on September 5 and 6 - and another date, September 4, is in the 'pipe'-line - should there be increased demand.
The first Belfast Tattoo was staged at the venue last weekend.
Officially sponsored by NITB, it drew a capacity audience of 5,500 to each of the two performances.
Show producer/director Colin Wasson said over 200 tickets had already been sold for next year's shows.
"We'll be expanding on this year's production and encorporating some new ideas. We've already booked the Lume de Biquera Pipe Band from Madrid in Spain and four flute bands have already signed up for next year - Ballylone, Cahard, Churchill and Hunter Moore Memoria
Dame Mary Peters, who took the salute at the end of the second show this year, said: :I was at the Edinburgh Tattoo taking the salute earlier this year but it's great to have our own tattoo here in Belfast."
Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster - who also attended this year's shows - said: "When I look around and see all the crowds I know this is such a popular event - and I hope it is the first of many tattoos in Belfast.
"There is a long history of Ulster Scots in Northern Ireland and we have many award-winning bands, some of them world champion bands - so it's only right that we have our own tattoo."
