Titanic Churches and Graveyards

There are a number of churches throughout the greater Belfast area with a connection to the Titanic. Rosemary Street First Presbyterian Church, dating 1781, is Belfast's oldest place of worship and was attended by Thomas Andrews and his wife Helen as well as Lord and Lady Pirrie.

Places To Visit

Bangor Abbey Bangor Abbey, Bangor

The main body of the building dates from 1830's, the tower from 15th century and steeple dates from around 1693. There are old and interesting gravestones including a memorial to the assistant surgeon of the Titanic local man John Edward Simpson.

Sinclair Seamens' Presybyterian Church Sinclair Seamen's Presbyterian Church, Belfast

Built in 1856 at a cost of £4,500 in memory of Mr John Sinclair.

Saint Anne's Cathedral Belfast Cathedral / St Anne’s Cathedral, Belfast

Consecrated in 1904, the Cathedral held a memorial service shortly after the tradgic sinking of the Titanic which was attended by several members of Thomas Andrew's family.
