Titanic Itinerary: Kid's Rule

Morning

Kids will love exploring the various buildings  in the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum. There's a reconstructed 1900s Ulster town, plus Ireland’s most comprehensive transport collection featuring old railway carriages, trams and even an iconic DeLorean. 

Get your fix of the Titanic story at the museum’s new TITANICa attraction.  Opened on 31 May, the 100th anniversary of Titanic’s launch from the Belfast slipways, the attraction has two separate components.  TITANICa: The Exhibition explores the local enterprise and skill behind the creation of the great White Star Liners and gives a glimpse into life onboard the ships through fascinating artefacts.  TITANICa: The People’s Story, brings to life daily routines, skills and stories in the age of Titanic through an innovative trail around some of the buildings of Ballycultra Town.

Lunch Stop

Enjoy hot or cold meals or snacks at the museum itself or head to one of the excellent restaurants in Holywood or Belfast.  Some options include the atmospheric McHugh’s Bar and Restaurant or the excellent food court at Victoria Square with its range of family-friendly eateries. 

Afternoon

Explore one or more of Belfast’s top family attractions.  Younger kids (and big ‘kids’) will love W5, the award-winning science and discovery centre based at the Odyssey Complex, while teenagers will enjoy an active afternoon at the Lagan Watersports Centre or at T13, a huge ‘alternative playground’ located under the iconic Harland and Wolff Cranes. 

The whole family, meanwhile, will enjoy a visit onboard the MV Confiance,  Belfast’s first floating visitor attraction housing an interactive visitor exhibition on the city’s maritime history.

Rest Your Head

End your day with a stay at one of Belfast’s excellent hotels.  Options include Jury's Inn and the Premier Inn, both of which offer family rooms. Or enjoy the flexibility of one of many city centre self-catering apartments.
