About

Based in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter, Belfast Exposed was founded in 1983 by a group of local photographers as a challenge to media representation of the city’s experience of conflict. Since then our work has developed further and now comprises:

•Northern Ireland’s principal gallery of contemporary photography, commissioning, publishing and showing work by local and international artists and photographers.
•An archive collection of historical images, a sample of which is available in the Exchange Space and also via the website.
•A Bookshop which stocks a wide range of thought provoking photographic, arts and social sciences titles
•A Reading Room, which provides welcoming space for study and research, with access to an extensive collection of books and reference materials.
•A Darkroom available to hire.
•Diverse community engagement photography projects with artists and local communities.
•Photography Training Courses, which cater for all levels of skill.
•Bespoke training is available for individuals, schools, colleges, businesses and community groups.
