Daft Eddy's Bar & Restaurant

Sketrick Island, Whiterock, Killinchy, County Down, BT23 6QH
Dining area

About

Daft Eddy’s is owned and operated by brother and sister team Aaron Stronge and Tamara MacLeod and has been in the family for over 25 years, having previously been run by their mother and father. The restaurant, bar and coffee shop offer lough-side views, indoor and outdoor dining and a warm welcome to all.

A fully licensed restaurant and bar, serving contemporary and wholesome food, our menus are designed around sourcing the best of the readily available local and seasonal produce of Northern Ireland, both land and sea.

The kitchen sources fish from Marty Johnson of Ardglass and Kilkeel, locally smoked Ballyhornan salmon, Hereford beef from Carnbrooke of Dromara and Givan’s pork to name a few.

The bar stocks local and speciality gins (Shortcross, Kilbroney), rums, whiskeys and ales (Farmageddon, Hilden Brewery).

Alongside the restaurant sits Little Eddy’s coffee shop, open for breakfast and lunch, with indoor and outdoor seating and the opportunity to purchase local art and crafts.

Both areas are family orientated and offer cyclists and dog owners the space to relax and unwind in beautiful surroundings and a warm and friendly atmosphere.

The restaurant is located next to the ruins of Sketrick Castle, one of the massive fortresses built in the Middle Ages to defend the area from seafaring invaders. A 20-minute walk on the marked path around the island affords uninterrupted views across the lough from Scrabo Tower to Kircubbin on a fine day.
