Belshaw Sculpture 2
Belshaw Sculpture 3

Spend an hour and visit Lisburn City’s newest attraction, The Limestone Way centered on Belshaws Quarry National Nature Reserve, Bensons Road, excavations have revealed unique evidence all in one little area of a geological ‘cake’. Explore eleven features and evidence spanning 250 million years TO when the earth looked nothing like it does now, when Dinosaurs roamed the earth, volcanoes erupted and ice ages carved the earth.

From there, take a walk along just half of mile of the adjacent road along the side of the Lagan Valley, to see more features and look out over the valley to the Mourne Mountains beyond.

Belshaws Quarry Sculpture Park comprises the addition of eight human being sized sculptures to the Northern Ireland Environment Agency(NIEA)-owned Belshaws Quarry National Nature Reserve on Benson’s Rd. This project idea was over a year in the making and as a community group that has a focus on environmental matters this project fits in with our core reason for being.

The reserve has recently been designated as an Area of Special Scientific Interest (ASSI) due to the uniquely accessible series of geological features. As such the park is possibly the only one of its type in Europe
