Northern Ireland is full of stunning locations that will make you fall in love all over again..and has the perfect backdrop to pop the question!  Below are some of our most romantic hotspots for some inspiration.

1. Be amazed at the awe-inspiring scenery at Dunluce Castle

Perched proudly on the sweeping Antrim coastline, these historic castle ruins are rich in myth and legend. The castle's magical setting is said to have been the inspiration for the the dramatic Cair Paravel in C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia. It was also included in BBC Countryfile Magazine's top 10 romantic ruins.

2. See the sunset at the Giant's Causeway (World Heritage Site)

 

The world famous Giant's Causeway on the north Antrim Coast is a very romantic and atmospheric location, especially at sunset. Enjoy a brisk cliff-top walk along the Causeway Coast Way, which passes through the site.

3. Enjoy a romantic break in the Fermanagh Lakelands

Beautiful, watery Fermanagh is ideal for a romance-filled getaway. Avail of a short break offer on the shores of tranquil Lough Erne, enjoy a picnic at Lough Navar Forest Walk and go for a stroll around one of the county's three National Trust properties: Florence Court, Castle Coole and Crom.

4. Experience romantic highs in and around the Mourne Mountains

Reconnect with each other on an invigorating walk at Kilbroney Park or for a more unusual romantic experience, treat the two of you to a hot seaweed bath at SOAK in the seaside town of Newcastle.

5. Take their breath away with a visit to the iconic Mussenden Temple & Downhill Demesne

The stunning Mussenden Temple, which was inspired by the Temple of Vesta near Rome, is perched on a cliff edge and offers some of the best views of the North Coast. It can also be booked as a wedding venue!

7. Try an active break away in Tyrone & the Sperrins

If you're the active types, head along to the Tyrone & Sperrins region for a short break. The area has has some beautiful open spaces for walking. Options include Gortin Glen Forest Park near Omagh and Banagher Glen near Dungiven. If you're after an adrenalin fix, the region also has some excellent outdoor activity centres, such as The Jungle NI, Moneymore and Todds Leap, Ballygawley.

8. Rekindle your relationship on the shores of Lough Neagh

If you fancy somewhere off the beaten track for some quality time together, head to Lough Neagh. The area around the loughshore has some beautiful walks and attractions, such as Antrim Lough Shore Park, Ballyronan Marina, the impressive 10th century Ardboe High Cross or the quaint Coyles Cottage nearby. Definitely worth a visit is Tannaghmore Gardens in Craigavon: couples who canoodle over its kissing gate are said to marry within the year!

9. Blow away the cobwebs with a beautiful beach walk

Northern Ireland has some of the most spectacular beaches in Europe, with long stretches of sand and dunes – ideal for a gentle romantic stroll. Ideas include the seven-mile Benone Strand in County Londonderry and Murlough National Nature Reserve in County Down with its stunning views of the Mourne Mountains.
