Historic Downpatrick is two miles from the cottage. Town offers St. Patrick's Centre, Down County Museum, Art centre, Down Cathedral and site of St. Patrick's grave.
For railway enthusiasts visit N.Ireland's only full size heritage railway and take a ride on a real steam locomotive.
Other town attractions include shopping and restaurants, leisure centre, cinema, Funky Monkeys children's play and lovely walks along the Quoile river to the Quoile Countyside centre.
Tyrella Blue Flag beach is only 5 miles from the cottage with beautiful shore line, sailing, seal watching and fishing villages.
The National Trust property at Castleward is a must to visit and close by the picturesque village of Srangford. Car ferry available here giving access to the Ards peninsula and the Aquarium in Portaferry. Several out door centres include a variety of water sports and Mountain activities suitable for all ages. Delamont Country park supports Ireland's longest miniature railway and an excellent play park for children. The park's scenic walks overlook Strangford lough.
Seaside town of Newcastle, at the foot of the Mourne Mountains, is a popular town for holiday makers. Close by, forest parks at Tollymore and Castlewellan delight many a visitor.
