Active and Sports Mad Dad

Want to get Dad's adrenaline pumping? Treat him to a taster session at one of our top outdoor activity providers or, if he's more of a spectating type, there are some great sporting events coming up for a great day out.

Below are some ideas to get you started.

• Adventurous dads might want to visit We Are Vertigo just outside Belfast.  There are a wide range of great activities from climbing walls to sky trail high ropes, a ski centre and a huge trampoline park.  Alternatively take him  to Belfast Activity Centre to experience a range of fun outdoor activities such as caving, bouldering or rope courses.

Scullion Hurls• Is your dad a keen GAA fan?  Take a trip to Scullion Hurls ÉCONOMUSÉE in Loughguile, County Antrim where you can see the art of hurl-making in action.  It's also a great place to buy a memorable Father's Day gift – they stock various craft products made from the surplus ash including cheeseboards, clocks and pens.

• If your dad's a speed junkie, take him rally driving, off-road driving or karting.  Options include Todds Leap near Ballygawley in County Tyrone or Campsie Karting Centre near Derry~Londonderry.

• For something just a little slower, why not take Dad on a unique Segway Titanic Guided Tour?  This futuristic mode of transport is great fun and it's an ideal way to see Belfast's historic Titanic Quarter.  Afterwards you could call into Titanic Belfast to enjoy Sunday Afternoon Tea, or lunch in Bistro 401 or the Galley Cafe.

• If he's been inspired by the recent Irish Open at Royal County Down Golf Club, why not treat Dad to a round of golf at one of Norther's Ireland's top golf courses?  Many offer lessons where he can perfect his swing.

•  If he's more of a spectator, buy him a ticket for the Summer Festival of Racing at Down Royal Racecourse near Lisburn (19 - 20 June), an exceptional weekend of racing, style and celebration.
