Active and Sports-Mad Dad

Want to get Dad's adrenaline pumping? Treat him to a taster session at one of our top outdoor activity providers – there are even special events planned for Father's Day.  Alternatively, if he's more of a spectating type, there are some great sporting events coming up for a great day out.

Below are some ideas to get you started.

• Bring Dad (and all the family) along to Father's Fun Day at The Jungle NI, Moneymore where he can try his hand at numerous exciting options including zorbing, archery, llama trekking and segway riding.

• Particularly adventurous dads might want to visit We Are Vertigo just outside Belfast.  There are a wide range of fun activities from climbing walls to sky trail high ropes and even a ski centre.  Alternatively take him  to Belfast Activity Centre to experience a range of quirky outdoor activities such as caving, bouldering or rope courses.

Scullion Hurls• Is your dad a keen GAA fan?  Bring him to the GAA in Ballymoney Exhibition (running until 26 July) to learn more about the history of the organisation in this part of County Antrim.  Or take a trip to Scullion Hurls ÉCONOMUSÉE in nearby Loughguile where you can see the art of hurl-making in action.  It's also a great place to buy a memorable Father's Day gift – they stock various craft products made from the surplus ash including cheeseboards, clocks and pens.

• If your dad's a speed junkie, take him rally driving, off-road driving or karting.  Options include Superdrive Motorsports Centre near Portadown in County Armagh, Todds Leap near Ballygawley in County Tyrone or Campsie Karting Centre near Derry~Londonderry.

•  If he's more of a spectator, bring your dad along to the Summer Jamm Festival in Strabane, County Tyrone (14 June) which will include a gravity-defying Rampage BMX Jump Show, as part of a full programme of family entertainment,
